Advisers around the country were treated to a dynamic program of technical content and motivating speakers at this year’s AFA National Roadshow.
Opening the show was Matt Heine, Netwealth Managing Director, who revealed how technology is transforming the delivery of financial services to customers.
He was followed by AFA COO, Phil Anderson, who provided a regulatory update, and Dean Lombardo revealed insights from his research into advice consumers. Technical strategies were covered by AMP’s Chris Kirby, who addressed the opportunities for advisers working in the SMSF and SME sectors.
Brad Fox, AFA CEO, took to the stage to launch the AFA’s Six Principles of Professionalism, a set of guidelines which are designed to raise the professional standards of advisers. The Principles will form part of the AFA’s Code of Conduct, to be released later this year.
The final presenters, both experts in their fields and 2013 AFA Award winners, spoke to attendees about their own professional journeys, and the challenges and opportunities facing the advice community. Female Excellence in Advice Award winner, Catherine Robson, discussed transparent fee models and the value of professional credibility. Jenny Brown, AFA Adviser of the Year, said innovation and continually looking for ways to improve was at the heart of her success.
The Roadshow also provided a platform for the announcement of the State winners of the AFA’s Excellence in Education Award. The full list of winners can be viewed here.
