2014 AFA National Adviser Conference

The Association of Financial Advisers held its 2014 National Adviser Conference in Cairns in October.

Delivered to advisers under the theme of ‘Innovate – Think; Create; Act’, the Conference was deemed by both delegates and exhibitors to be a successful event in its first year being held at the Cairns Convention Centre.

Around 750 delegates heard from their peers and also shared their own ideas in order to help build their business and enhance the overall value of the advice they provide to their clients.

As usual, the Conference offered a variety of plenary and streamed focus sessions, as well as the popular ‘Meet the Professionals’ series, which was this year accompanied by a selection of ‘Meet the Innovators’ sessions.

In addition to the broad range of relevant topics shared by many of the plenary speakers, various industry professionals also acknowledged and addressed the regulatory and public perception issues impacting the advice sector. Notwithstanding this current negative sentiment, delegates were encouraged to ‘… get on the front foot’ and promote the many positive messages to consumers about the value of advice and how their efforts help to change people’s lives for the better.

Delegates will again return to the Cairns Convention Centre next October for the 2015 AFA National Adviser Conference, where the theme will be: ‘Connecting Knowledge with Performance’.
