Australia’s life insurance industry gathered together in Sydney during April for the annual FSC Life Insurance Conference.
Nearly 300 delegates attended the event, now in its fifth year. Under the theme of ‘Focus’, issues such as industry sustainability, the rise of direct insurance and the changing consumer culture were discussed by a range of speakers. The ABC’s Emma Alberici facilitated the event, putting the tough questions to Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, Steven Ciobo.
At a gala dinner, held the evening prior, a number of innovators were recognised for their contribution to the industry. Megan Beer, Director of Insurance at AMP, was presented with the Industry Pioneer Award. The Leadership Award went to Tracey Crowe, BT Financial Group’s National Manager, Underwriting, New Business and Claims, and ANZ Wealth’s Direct Life Insurance Product Manager, Rajasree Variyar won the Young Achiever Award. Asteron, Zurich and BT were also recognised for their marketing and research efforts. Guest speaker for the evening was The Biggest Loser trainer, Michelle Bridges, who brought along her beau and co-star, Steve ‘Commando’ Willis.
